Description

I've done a little diving and am fascinated by the grace of the sharks I've seen (reef sharks so nothing ominous). So why not take a look at a shark in the sky? I've enjoyed others' images of LDN 1235, the Dark Shark Nebula, so thought it was time to take a look myself. This is what I have at the moment with the FL156 and 5hr 45min integration, imaged when the sky quality reading was close to 21 from my backyard in Lowbanks, Ontario. I wanted to see what sort of detail I could pick up with the big refractor, particularly what kind of resolution of PGC67671 (the galaxy photobombing the nebula from 58 million light years away) I could get with my setup. If you imaged this, you know that it can be tough to frame, and with the FL156 given the field of view and the fact that the nebula itself is, well, dark and it's not in NINA's Sky Atlas. But once I brought the coordinates in from Stellarium the framing was a cinch. This one is a lot of fun to work on! I've edited this 3 or 4 different ways and this is my favourite at the moment.
