Description

The Bogeyman Nebula is a fascinating target. While the nickname likely refers to the dark nebula obscuring a Ha emission region, there is also an interesting reflection nebula (vdB 62) just over the boogeyman's shoulder.

This is a reasonably large target for my scope, and I started shooting this target late in the season, so I decided to experiment with shooting the whole thing in bin4 to speed things up. The seeing conditions were not great around this time, so I don't think I would have been able to use much of the extra resolution anyways. I'll be trying this again with some other large but faint targets as well later.

Also, I learned one new thing while processing this image in Photoshop. I kept noticing a difference in brightness when I uploaded images here (some folks even commented that my photos seemed too dark) and I finally tracked it down to the Proof Colors option. Disabling it finally seems to have fixed the issue.
