Description

IC 1275 is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius. It is a part of the larger Lagoon Nebula (M8) and is often referred to as the "Little Lagoon Nebula." IC 1275 is a relatively young nebula, estimated to be only about 1 million years old. It is illuminated by a hot, young star cluster, and is filled with glowing gas and dust.

The photograph shows the intricate structure of IC 1275, including its many filaments and knots of gas. The nebula is also home to several young stars, which are visible as bright blue points in the photograph.

IC 1275 is about 15 light-years across and is located about 4,100 light-years from Earth. It is a relatively small nebula, but it is very bright and easy to see with a telescope.

I captured this from a B1 dark sky site in the South African Maluti mountains during June 2023.

I have processed the nebula in the Hubble SHO pallet with RGB stars added back at the end.
