Description

The Gabriela Mistral nebula is located to the northwest of the Carina nebula.  It lies roughly 9,100 light years away from Earth. The open cluster NGC3324 and its associated emission nebula IC2599 make up the region which gained its colloquial name due to the resemblance to the Chilean poet.

This area has been observed by Hubble, JWST and JD (me).  My result is from a dark sky site ideally located in the Chilean desert.  The ideal conditions, very good equipment and 30hr integration time suggest that this is pretty darn close to the best result that one can reasonably expect to achieve with terrestrial based amateur equipment.  Below is a comparison of the three results:
