Description

This is a re-post of an image I posted previously, but that I accidentally deleted while doing some housekeeping.

I live on the southeast side of Charlotte, North Carolina. This galaxy pair is visible for much of the time from my backyard perch in the late winter & early spring. My view of M81 & M82 is to the north, directly in the direction of downtown Charlotte and the second largest banking center in the United States that is contained therein, which is 20 minutes from me.  I did an experiment to see if it was possible to capture any of the integrated flux nebula from the conditions here with a OSC, so I put an excessive amount of imaging time on this because that is very possible with the field of view from my backyard & the position of these galaxies in respect to that. I blew out the core in M81 even with 3 min exposures, though that was impossible to discern from the subs. I didn't realize it until post processing. I did, however, get some of the IFN to show up, so it is indeed possible with enough time from this light pollution.
