Description

A short animation showing the end of Europa's shadow transit followed by the emergence of Ganymede and then Io from being eclipsed by Jupiter on Oct. 22, 2022.  I captured this sequence from my home in Hilo, HI, with a C11, Siebert 1.7x modular barlow and an ASI224MC camera over 43 minutes elapsed time.  I made 90 seconds video captures of the shadow transit using an 800x600 ROI.  I happened to check Stellarium and discovered that Ganymede and Io were both being eclipsed by Jupiter and would appear as the shadow transit was ending so I changed the ROI to 1024x600 to be able to have them in the FOV.    I used Winjupos to "derotate" each of the single images out of AutoStakkert!3/RegiStax6 to have them all the same size and orientation.

I had to delete a few of the images due to problems so the animation is not as smooth as I would like but it does show the emergence of Ganymede followed quickly by Io.  Interestingly, the shadow of Jupiter seems to show up better on Ganymede during the reverse play of the animation.
