Description

This cluster has many names since it appears to both hemispheres and is mentioned in Japanese, Greek, Native American, Hebrew, and Polynesian traditions (among many others) which I think makes it one of the more special objects in our sky. Learning more about this nebula and its history was just as interesting as processing the nebula itself - for example, I did not know that the nebula which presumably formed these stars had already been dispersed. Apparently this cluster just happens to be moving through a particularly dusty region of our galaxy.
