Description

NGC6995 and IC1340 constitute what’s known as The Bat Nebula. They are part of, and represent the lower/southern end, of the Eastern Veil nebula.  The Eastern Veil is part of a greater cloud known as the Cygnus Loop, a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust, a supernova remnant, in the constellation Cygnus.
The source supernova was a star 20 times more massive than the Sun which exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. At the time of the explosion, the supernova would have appeared brighter than Venus in the sky, and visible in the daytime.  [Reference:  Wikipedia].

Capture Information:
The image was captured with the iOptron CEM120 mount, the venerable Meade 12"LX200 SCT OTA, and my QHYCCD QHY294m Pro mono CMOS camera at F7.16 (2182mm FL).
Astronomik's Ha narrow band filter was used.

Image Information -- 2023
This is a two panel mosaic ----
Ha   :   48 subs (4.00hr) on Nov 22nd and 24th, and Dec 01st.

All exposures were at 5 minutes (300s) each, 1600 gain, 56 offset, 1x1 bin and -10C.

Processing was done with PixInsight, following (for the most part) their good practice procedures.
This effort was done as a two panel Mosaic.  Each of the two sub’s group were individually integrated, and then assembled using PixInsights mosaic processes.

North is in the general direction of the image's upper right corner.  This is a moderate crop due to the necessities of the process.

Comments:
This is the 1st time I’ve run at this target.
My original intention was to image the object in Ha, along with O3 and S2 filters.
However I started imaging late in the season and was only able to collect  the Ha filter subs before the target's visibility ran out.
I’ll need to come back next year if I want to add color.

However, I’m very pleased with the results this time.
