Description

NGC7814 is a beautiful almost edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Pegasus with a likeness to the Sombrero Galaxy (M104).  This galaxy is about 40M ly distant and there are many other distant galaxies in the field including IC5381.  Because this galaxy is tilted slightly from being edge-on additional dust lanes can be seen, especially the one to the top right.IC5381is a spiral galaxy at an estimated 508M ly distance with a diameter of 195,000 ly. There are numerous galaxies in this field.  One set of three galaxies to the lower right of NGC7814 includes PGC1500199 which is at a distance of ~1.2B ly.  PGC259 which is to the left and slightly above NGC7814 is ~298M ly distant. Another irregularly shaped spiral to the left and between NGC7814 and IC5381, PGC1498785 is about 520M ly distant.
