Description

Aside from one windy two-hour sliver on the night of 3/11 in my Bortle 6 driveway, we've had one clear and (mostly) moonless night in this month's New Moon period, so it would have been nice to have gotten even one more night of imaging this target, but oh well ~ It is what it is.  I know many feel the same pain.  Nevertheless, I am grateful, and the result better than I expected; this image processed earlier today with my friend and award-winning processing guru, @Terry Hancock , of www.downunderobservatory.com.  I enjoy our time together processing my data, and as I have come into my own "style" (for the better, I hope) based upon his tutelage, I especially now enjoy discussing, experimenting and executing various approaches in arriving at finished images.

p.s.  ... And speaking of "style," I have been experimenting with NXT as an initial step in pre-processing my linear Master Lights.  Perhaps this approach would be more effective with double or triple my usual integration, but certainly not against the six hours here (or the four hours on my NGC2170 image).  Backgrounds become too mottled, and before I started over on this data (minus the NXT), I thought the night's data (and all that driving) was for naught ....  I will likely now re-process my NGC2170, as the raw data was decent ... and just to be clear, I find NXT highly effective as a later step in processing.
