Well, I tried one more attempt to bin my RGB and Ha at 4x4 (9.2 um) for my galaxy projects to get better sampling with the 1645 focal length and ASI 294 MM. I have now done this method for 4 galaxy projects to give it a fair chance: M81, M101, M104, and now M82.

I have definitely not been satisfied with the results. I plan to go back to the 2x2 4.6 um or maybe I will try to 3x3 at 6.9 um. I have found 4x4 binning while getting decent signal, when upscaled to match the luminance data leaves lot of blocky noise leaving me wanting more.

Not my favorite work, but still a incredibly dynamic galaxy to capture.

M82 is a irregular start burst galaxy with a possible growing active galactic nucleus. The galaxy is going through a period of rapid star creation secondary to proposed interaction with M81. The high mass stars resulting from the star burst go super nova causing ejection of the two hydrogen out flow tracts into the halo of the galaxy perpendicular from our perspective. The galaxy is 12 million light years from Earth in the M81 galaxy group in Urssa Major.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
