Description

I have always been fascinated by black holes, the mind bending physics of these ultra compact regions of space has always captured my imagination.  The fact that with a few thousand dollars of equipment, nearly anyone can easily capture evidence of the existence of these marvels is really incredible.  This image captures the ionization of the Cygnus X-1 relativistic jet in the upper right near the Tulip Nebula (SH2-101).  The ionization effects are visible as a faint blue-ish glow just to the right of the Tulip Nebula.

This image captures several Wolf-Rayet Stars, including WR-136 in the center of the Crescent Nebula and WR-134 in the lower center.  WR-134's stellar wind is creating the blue arc at the lower center of the image.

Additionally, while not a target of this imaging observation, I also captured the faint Soap Bubble planetary nebula at the bottom of the frame below the Crescent Nebula.  I hope you enjoy this image of this very active region of space.
