Description

Carina Nebula

It is an incredible stellar nursery, where stunning stars are born and evolve. Located in the Carina constellation, this nebula dazzles with its vastness of cosmic gas and dust, creating a spectacle of colors. Its center houses Eta Carinae, an intriguing stellar system with massive and unpredictable stars, whose activities leave astronomers fascinated. In the 19th century, Eta Carinae underwent an extraordinary event, becoming one of the brightest stars in the sky for a period. The nebula is so extensive that if it were closer to Earth, it would cover such a large area in the sky that even the light of the Moon would be outshone. The intense brightness of the nebula is due to the ultraviolet radiation emitted by the newly formed stars, which excites the gas around them, making it shine brightly. About 7,500 light-years away from Earth, the Carina Nebula is a true treasure of the universe, offering a unique view of the stellar formation process and cosmic energy in action.
