Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a small planetary nebula is located 20,000 light years away in the constellation of Gemini at a declination of +24 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13.5 PN which spans 30 arc-seconds in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.

This object is a Minkowski PN.  It is also known as PK189+07.1.

I do not understand this structure nor could I find an explanation for it.  I have not seen a similar PN in the 200 that I have imaged.  The central bright white section has similar OIII and HII signals, with the OIII slightly stronger leading to a bluish glow.  Extending beyond this bright section, from 1 o’clock to 7 o’clock, is an oval HII region with a bright rim.
