Description

These 3 massive elliptical galaxies are anchoring the Pegasus II galaxy cluster.  The cluster is located 0.6 billion light years away in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of +8 degrees.   The cluster has about 175 members spanning 1 degree across, twice as wide as my image FOV.

The 3 galaxies are huge - the largest is NGC 7499 at 300,000 light years in size.  It spans about 1.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.

Many interesting galaxy shapes are visible.  My favorite is the barred ring galaxy at lower right.
