Description

Found in the constellation of Pegasus, the Deerlick Galaxy Group consist of a large spiral foreground galaxy surrounded by a couple of more distant background galaxies ("the fleas"). This image was taken from my observatory, which resides within the Deerlick Astronomy Village (~ 110 miles east of Atlanta, GA) -- also named after this remarkable group of galaxies. However, the name itself was coined by an amateur astronomer who had a stunning view of these galaxies from the Deer Lick Gap in the mountains of North Carolina.
