Hello,

Messier 13 (NGC 6205), the Great Globular Cluster, is a globular cluster of several hundred thousand stars in the constellation of Hercules.

It has here been imaged last week by Serge Brunier with the 1meter deltagraph Omicron of the C2PU observatory. The seeing was good but there was somme cirrus clouds from time to time.

This object was not planned in the team's program, but as there were some cirrus clouds, we stopped our main target (coming

) and Serge pointed the telescope at M13 for a try . When David and I saw what he had obtained in RGB, we decided together to add some luminance.

Luminance is composed of 210 x 30s frames and 100 x 15s frames. RGB = 3 x 1h20 has also been partially mixed into the Luminance.

6 hours of processing with SIRIL and Photoshop. It's been a very long time since I've processed a globular cluster, it's not easy to render everything correctly.

Hope you will like this giant cluster.

EDIT 2023/06/11 : 40 mn added using a Nikon D810a at the cassgrain focus (F/9) of Epsilon 1 meter scope. Center much more detailed.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
