Description

The Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443) is the remnant of a supernova lying 5,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Gemini. This remnant’s age is still uncertain, but the Jellyfish Nebula is most likely the remnant of a supernova that occurred 3,000 – 30,000 years ago.

It's anchored right and left by two bright stars, Mu and Eta Geminorum. The Jellyfish Nebula is in the right of center and is known to harbor a neutron star. An emission nebula cataloged as Sharpless 249 is in the left of this image.
