Description

NGC 1333 is a reflection nebula located in the northern constellation Perseus, positioned next to the southern constellation border with Taurus and Aries.  This nebula is in the western part of the Perseus molecular cloud and is a young region of very active star formation, being one of the best-studied objects of its type. This my first dark nebula I ever captured and only made possible by driving 100 miles away to a Bortle 4 dark site.  A lot happened that night, it took me hours to polar align, then the mount AZ screw broke (probably caused the PA issues), then it got windy and cold.  But I persevered until the sun came up with my rig covered in frost and could not take any more frames.  In the end I managed to capture 146 120 second good exposures totaling in almost 5 hours integration time.  Then came the challenge of processing a subject with so much dust which I also have not done before.  Either way it was a great adventure and I really enjoyed the challenge.

Clear Skies!
Dave
