Description

After months of equipment woes, I've got the new mount working properly and am glad to be back imaging! This is a target I've been wanting to do for a while. I was able to continue to try and refine new processing techniques on this, including tinkering with various new pixelmath expressions to create a synthetic green channel, trying a streamlined version of Adam Block's star de-emphasis technique, and various other masking techniques to sharpen just what needs sharpening without making the whole thing look overcooked. In general, I'm very happy with it, and I am rarely happy with my images.

As a side note, I got one of the Telegizmo all weather covers recently, and it is fantastic. I used to set up and take down my rig every night, which was a chore, made all the more so with the new, heavier mount. Now I just leave it permanently set up on my back patio and keep it covered when not in use. The cover is thermally insulated so it doesn't cook in the sun, and keeps out all rain / snow / ice (all of which I have had in abundance of late). So far so good! I can get up and running SO much faster now. The gear still experiences the humidity fluctuations from being outdoors but no more so than if it were sitting in my uninsulated garage. Highly recommend.
