Description

This morning's air turbulences were... alright, we have netiquettes. Since imaging at native FL could be ruled out I digged out an ancient Celestron "0.5x Rich Field Adapter" (revision C) reducing the FL to some 1000mm. What I found is that the adapter does not only reduce but also smooth like a Gaussian Blur (the lens surfaces are clean). It is probably made for visual with 1.25" eyepieces.

The image is a mosaic of 3 panels at FL=1000, 2ms, gain 107, 400x, 172fps, mono8, 10-bit, 1.5x drizzled. It is here for demo only, please do not rate or like. Does anyone have experience with the Rich Field Adapter? It is a very old part indeed, say, Yoyager era.

Revision B is the only image taken at native FL that (barely) qualified for AstroBin the other 10 went into the TrashBin.

Stay safe!
