Description

This view of the Rho Ophiuchi dust complex, a field that is just north of Antares, was imaged July 8-9, 2023.    Was imaged from i Telescope's very dark Utah site, elevation 5,200'.
About 2 hours of integration: 6 x 5 minutes with L, R, G, B filters.   A 4" Takahashi, operating at f/5, allowed for the wider field I was looking for.
This dust cloud is over 4 degrees by 6 degrees in size,  with this image being a smaller section of that.   At a distance of less than 500 light years, it is the closest star forming region to us.
