Description

This object is a spiral galaxy 70 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +74 degrees. This galaxy spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 70,000 light years. The galaxy is smaller than it seems in my image - I cropped to avoid some bright stars. The field radius of the image is only 0.15 degrees.

This galaxy shows subtle color variations – yellow in the core, purple in the inner region and blue towards the outer edges. Several bright star clusters are visible through the haze. The structure is a bit flocculent but not fully so. The most interesting part is the odd single strong arm structure. I am not sure what is causing this – no companion is visible although a few knots look suspicious.
