Description

This is a double stacked image of the Sun showing a magnificent prominence and large sun spots.  Taken from North London using a Quark Chromo and 100mm APO refractor with UV filter and ERF filter.

This is a combination of about 20 frames for both the surface and the limb.

Each capture comprises of about 5,000 frames, stitched together, and coloured from the original mono TIF file.

Although it isn't a "recommended" way of processing, I like to reverse the solar surface detail before colouring which gives a real 3d appearance to the image.  The non reversed version is more "accurate", but just doesn't look as striking!
