Description

The Pegasus Dwarf Irregular Galaxy (also known as UGC 12613, PGC 71538, DDO 216, Pegasus Dwarf, PegDIG) is a dwarf irregular galaxy in the direction of the constellation Pegasus. It was discovered by A. G. Wilson only in the 1950s.
The Pegasus Dwarf is a companion of the Andromeda Galaxy in the Local Group. It is located 3 Mly away. Its galactic coordinates are (95, -43.3).

A few words regarding the catalogues mentioned above: UGC 12613, PGC 71538, DDO 216

UGC
The Uppsala General Catalogue of Galaxies (UGC) is a catalogue of 12921 galaxies visible from the northern hemisphere. It was first published in 1973.
The catalogue includes essentially all galaxies north of declination -02°30' and to a limiting diameter of 1.0 arcminute or to a limiting apparent magnitude of 14.5. The primary source of data is the blue prints of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS). It also includes galaxies smaller than 1.0 arcminute in diameter but brighter than 14.5 magnitude from the Catalogue of Galaxies and of Clusters of Galaxies (CGCG).

PGC
The Catalogue of Principal Galaxies (PGC) is an astronomical catalog published in 1989 that lists B1950 and J2000 equatorial coordinates and cross-identifications for 73197 galaxies. It is based on the Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (LEDA), which was originally started in 1983.

DDO
David Dunlap Observatory Catalogue, known as the DDO or A Catalogue of Dwarf Galaxies, is a catalogue of dwarf galaxies that was compiled by Sidney van den Bergh and published by the David Dunlap Observatory in 1959 (and later expanded in 1966).
