Description

NGC 7331 Group is a visual grouping of galaxies in the constellation Pegasus. Spiral galaxy NGC7331 is a foreground galaxy in the same field as the collection, which is also called the Deer Lick Group.  It contains four other members, affectionately referred to as the "fleas": the lenticular or unbarred spirals NGC7335 and NGC7336, the barred spiral galaxy NGC7337 and the elliptical galaxy NGC 7340. These galaxies lie at distances of approximately 332, 365, 348 and 294 million light years, respectively. Although adjacent on the sky, this collection is not a galaxy group, as NGC 7331 itself is not gravitationally associated with the far more distant "fleas"; indeed, even they are separated by far more than the normal distances (~2 Mly) of a galaxy group. CAPTURE Information:
The image was captured with the iOptron CEM120 mount , the venerable Meade 12"LX200 SCT OTA, and my QHY295m Pro mono cmos camera at F7.16 (2182mm FL).  Image subs were taken through Astronomik's broadband filters of Luminance, Red, Green and Blue.

IMAGE information -- 2022
LUM (300s): 49 subs (4.08 hrs.) on Sep 30th and Oct 1st, 2022.
RED (300s): 20 subs (1.67 hrs.) on Sep 29th and 30th, 2022.
GRN (300s): 20 subs (1.67 hrs.) on Sep 29th and 30th, 2022.
BLU  (300s): 20 subs (1.67 hrs.) on Sep 29th and 30th, 2022.

The Luminance subs along with the R, G and B were were shot at 300s and -10C.  All exposures were done at 1x1 bin, Gain 1600 and Offset 56.  Lights, Darks, Flats and Flat Darks were used for processing.

Processing was done in PixInsight following, for the most part, kayronjm's tutorial of Feb. 24th from several years back.
This is an approximate 50% crop for better composition.

COMMENTS:
This is the 3rd (?) time I’ve imaged this target.  I have sketchy records from the past.
The first was in 2016 (or 2015) on the old Meade 12”LX200 fork mount, using my Atik 383L+mono CCD camera.
The second was in 2018 on the iOptron CEM120 mount, using my Atik 383L+mono CCD camera.
This time we’re on the iOptron CEM120 using the QHY294 pro mono cmos camera.  In every case we employed only broad band filters.
I was never satisfied with the earlier works and did not post them on the Astrobin site. This latest just makes it under the wire as acceptable to post.

ONE LAST THING:
My CEM120 iOptron mount has been back to the Massachusetts service center twice to correct for problematic tracking.  Still not there and I had to remove around 20% of the  subs due to non-correctable RA excursions.  I’ve contacted the manufacturer (again) and await their response.
