Description

Mosaic of the Heart and Soul Nebula. This is my first time doing a mosaic, but I think it actually came out really good and was surprised at how easy PI made it. I didn't originally plan for a mosaic, but I still had some time after capturing the Heart Nebula so I decided to manually align the Soul Nebula too. It ended up being about a 60% overlap between the two targets.

Pre-processing each panel in PI:
- WBPP for calibration, cosmetization and debayaring
- StarAlignment
- LocalNormalization using best image by PSF
- ImageIntegration using best image by weight as reference
- DrizzleIntegration using scale of 1 as anything else generates artifacts in the stars

Creating mosaic:
- DynamicCrop and DBE on each panel
- ImageSolver
- MosaicByCoordinates
- dnaLinearFit
- GradientMergeMosaic with  CloneStamp to remove pinched stars

Processing in PI:
- DynamicCrop
- DBE
- PixelMath to split into Ha and Oiii layers
- EZ denoise on Ha
- LinearFit Oiii using Ha as reference
- StarXterminator on Ha and Oiii
- PixelMath to combine into HOO image
- EZ soft stretch Ha and HOO images

Postprocessing:
- LRGBCombination using Ha as luminance
- TGVDenoise
- ACDNR
- MLT to slightly sharpen image
- CurvesTransformation
- LocalHistogramEqualization with RangeSelection masks
- DarkStructureEnhance
- PixelMath to add stars back
- EZ star reduction
- final CurvesTransformation
