Description

Only 20 million light-years away, NGC 3344 is a relatively nearby galaxy in the Leo Spur.   It's angular extent on the sky is about 7.5 arc minutes, which makes its true size about 44K light years in diameter.   This is a small galaxy as compared to the Milky Way, but since it's fairly close, we get a reasonably good look at it.     Visible in the image is an outer partial ring of diffuse material that is thought to be the remnant of a galaxy interaction based on it's dissimilar motion with other parts of the galaxy. Description: BXT update. What I notice in the difference is that the stars are less pronounced, and the outer ring is more pronounced.
