Description

Our own Milky Way Galaxy might get one or two supernova in a century. Here, astronomers have observed 10 in the last 100 years. On this account, in 2005, it was officially named the "Fireworks Galaxy." It sits 25 Million light years away in Cygnus. The open cluster NGC 6939 is "next" to it resting comfortably just four thousand light years away.
