Description

The Pinwheel Galaxy or M101, is a giant spiral galaxy 170,000 light years across (out Milky way is approx. 100,000) containing at least a trillion stars. The galaxy's spiral arms accommodate nebulae with active star formation. It is located approximately 25 million light years away from our Earth, in the constellation of Ursa Major.
