Hello dear reader

On the 10th and 11th February the sky cleared over Sofia and I started to look for a target. Unfortunately the Moon was in the sky and its location was in the middle of everything interesting. Because of this I started to look for objects elsewhere. And then I found it - SH2-284.

For me SH2-284 is a jewel in the winter night sky. It is situated in the constellation Monoceros - right below the Christmas Tree cluster and the Rosette Nebula. It is on the celestial equator and it has it all - Strong HA region, Strong OIII region, pillars of creation, dark clouds and nebula. I am charmed by this object and I have the desire to image it more. However for the next 10 days there are no clear nights on the horizon so I decided to process my material up to now. For sure I will try to capture more data but if I am unable to do so due to weather - I will for sure visit it next year.

NGC 2282 is situated in the vicinity as well - a ball of lights that would make a great target for a high magnification scope.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
