Description

Messier 106, or NGC 4258, is similar in size to Andromeda galaxy and located 23 million light years from earth in the constellation Canes Venatici.  It just so happened that this particular framing of M106 caught  my eye, as it really complemented the other surrounding deep space objects, including its  probable companion galaxy NGC 4217 to the lower right in this image.  To the left is NGC 4346 and to the upper right, NGC 4220, though there are several other notable galaxies in an annotated image. When I first imaged this galaxy in 2021, I had 37 minutes or so of integration time. While the cropped in version showed the larger subject galaxy in better detail, I think the wider field of view is more interesting given the other objects triangulating around M106.
