Description

This is a 29hr LRGBSHO close-up image of the Rosette Nebula processed in SHO color with RGB stars.

The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located in the giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter [even though its not in the Abin annotations]. The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter.  [Wikipedia].

The 29 hrs of LRGBSHO data were collected by DeepSkyWest from their CDK17 telescope in Rio Hurtado, Chile, between November 2023 and January 2024.
