Description

Messier 109 captured on the night of 4/11 - 4/12. This barred spiral galaxy is located near the bright star Phecda. While Phecda was off my sensor, it caused bright streaks that looked somewhat like bright amp glow. It took awhile to figure out how to best mitigate the streaks. I ended up using a GameScript mask over the galaxy and then clipped the background.

LRGB composition of five minute unguided subs with lots of lum. I used HdrMulti (defaults) on the lum core to reduce the intensity before combining the RGB. If you look closely, you can see what looks like a second horizontal bar in the core of a tight brighter region.
