Description

Venus on 2023-06-08 at 18:37 UT  with SCT Celestron C14.
From Left to Right: 1. IR, 2. IR-IR/UV-UV, 3. UV.
For UV and IR I used the ASI 290MM.

Photographs of Venus with a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (SCT) in the typical UV range of 320 - 380 nm are a real challenge, since the Schmidt plate cuts off this wavelength range and only lets a small signal through (see figure below):

(Transmission for an 8" Celestron SCT Schmidt corrector plate coated with Celestron's "XLT" anti-reflection coatings)
An SCT is therefore rather unsuitable for UV images. Nevertheless, with good seeing you can capture a few details.

It becomes even more difficult with an Edge HD or ACF, as the built-in correctors lead to a further reduction in the UV signal. Pure reflectors such as Newton or Dobson telescopes are best suited.

I hope you like my new image!
