Description

Every winter I attempt to shoot Orion in a slightly different way.
This year I opted for  wider FOV and tried this 6-panel mosaic.  In addition to M42 and the Horsehead Nebula, this composition encompasses the three stars in Orion's belt (Mintaka, Alnilam and Alnitak) and also manages to include a significant portion of Barnard's Loop.

My equipment was a William Optics 51mm RedCat paired with an ASI2600MC camera and Radian Triad Ultra filter.
I used APP to separate the Ha and Oiii signals and recombined them into this cool-hued HaOHH+RGB combination.
The final image was over 700Mb and 122.5 Megapixels. This JPG is about half of that size, but sufficient to see the finer details.
Final touches in Photoshop (star spikes are simulated).

All data was captured from my Bortle 8 backyard near Toronto between January and February 2023.

I hope you enjoy it.
