Description

The sub-Earth longitude and latitude (libration) were -5.536º and -5.870º bringing more westerly and southerly craters into view. An interesting shadow play appears like a V-shaped trench at the horizon (south is up). The path leads from Clavius via Moretus and the craters Short to the up to 5km tall Malapert crater rim ("peak of eternal light") near the lunar south pole marked by the crater Shackleton (not seen on the image). Most of the interior of the Malapert craters remain in eternal shadow. At the right of the V-shape lie the Newton craters.

Transparency was good but turbulent air forced me to use 5ms exposures to freeze the images.

5ms, gain 200, 170fps, 600x, 2x tubeless barlow (f/14.2, FL=2880mm).

The images in the revision are captured without barlow.
All images in mono8, 10-bit ADC and 1.5x drizzled.
