Description

Located a mere 1,400 light years away, the Orion Nebula is one of the closest star forming regions to the Earth.  This nebula is so bright that it is visible to the unaided eye as a fuzzy star in the sword of Orion.  This nebula was the first deep sky object photographed by Henry Draper at the Harvard Observatory in 1880, which inaugurated the modern era of astrophotography in which we now live.
