Description

Obtenida en Agosto de 2016, en la Localidad de Ayna, Albacete. España.

Also known as Messier 20 and NGC 6514 is an H II region in the constellation Sagittarius. The name of the nebula means "divided into three lobes," since the outstanding feature is the appearance of three bright lobes separated by dark lines of dust. The Trifid nebula, which is both a emission and reflection nebula, has an apparent brightness of 6.3 magnitudes. The nebula is relatively close, about 1700 parsecs, something like 5500 light years.
