Its the Galaxy season and I decided to prepare my C6 for imaging at native focal length of 1500 mm. I really want to dive in those galaxies with full force.
However what do you do during the Galaxy season when there is full Moon? Well you image Planetary Nebulae of course
On the night of 19.03.2022 I pointed my scope to the PN in Gemini - NGC 2371. I used the L-Extreme filter which made the scope difficult to use coming from the RASA8. I needed to increase the exposure time to 60 seconds in order for Nina to be able to make a PlateSolve and the AutoFocus routine required the exposure to be increased to 15 seconds per shot.
The Gemini Nebula has quite an interesting shape. It slightly resembles the shape of M76 - the little dumbbell nebula.
Here is what I was able to find as characteristics:
- distance from us - 4 400 light years;
- visual magnitude - 13;
- angular size - 0.73 archmin;
I love imaging at high focal lengths. I dream to have a C9.25 one day but for now the C6 fulfills this dream
