Description

Located at the edge of the Taurus Molecular Cloud, Hind's Variable Nebula is a reflection nebula illuminated by the variable star T Tauri, the orange star at the center of the dark nebulosity.  Though not seen in this DSLR image, this field is otherwise remarkable for containing a number of Herbig-Haro objects, bright jets of gas associated with young stars, although you can perhaps identify one such HH Object immediately to the right of T Tauri, a linear nebula known as HH 224, or Burnham's Nebula.  I am really not certain this small linear streak is the actual Herbig-Haro object in question or not, but it is identifiable when you zoom in a bit. I need to upgrade to PI Ultimate for better plate solving!
