Description

My first processed image thanks to Eric Cole's operation at SRO.  I have suffered long too long in the swamp they call the "Bay Area" 150 miles from SRO.  Remarkably good data.  Such a breath of fresh air.

The Integral Sign Galaxy is an unusual super-thin Type Sd spiral galaxy seen edge-on from our perspective.  Although “super-thin” may sound like a subjective term, it has a measurable definition.
uper-thin spirals display little or no central bulge and have a 10-to-1 or higher diameter-to-thickness ratio.  They almost always have a low surface brightness, which makes them difficult to spot.

Gary Imm (of course) has a page on them.

Used all the processing tricks I learned at the bottom of the swamp here.  I was particularly careful using GHS on the L.

There are a number of objects here that are not identified in the plate solve that I need to look up.  I may be hallucinating but I wonder if that is a PN off to the right.
