Description

With Galaxy Season in the rearview mirror, I'm excited to get back to some narrowband targets.  The Western Veil Nebula is among the first set of targets I ever tried imaging a few years ago, so it is fun to see the effect of the progression of my equipment, acquisition and editing skills.  One day I may try a mosaic of the whole region - I've seen a few such amazing images already.

For kicks, I went with a Hubble Palette on this one since there is ample data in all three filters (SHO).  I usually see this rendered in HSO or HOO, with strong red and blue primary colors, so I opted for a slightly different look.  I love the baby blue in this palette, punctuated by green-gold wisps of wonder.

I would have liked more time on the target, but weather and travel have dictated the time for this exposure.  It should be visible throughout the summer, so perhaps I can add to it some more, or start collecting data on its neighbors for a mosaic.
