Description

About 10,000 years ago, a star exploded here, leaving behind a white dwarf. At 100,000 K, this dwarf is so hot that it emits UV and X-ray radiation, causing the surrounding gas to glow. Why the gas has the shape of a dumbbell or a gnawed apple is not yet known.

HOO with RGB stars.
