Description

This galaxy cluster is located 230 million light years away in the constellation of Perseus at a declination of +42 degrees.

The cluster is anchored by the large elliptical (E3) galaxy NGC 1129, which is a massive 260,000 light years in diameter.  Like many ellipticals, this one appears to have a shell or two, remnants from a past merger.

Many other interesting small spiral galaxies are seen in the background.
