Target Description:
  A distorted galaxy, NGC 1954 undoubtedly had a close gravitational encounter with another galaxy. Perhaps that galaxy was NGC 1957 at the top of this image, as it also shows gravitational distortions. However, I did not find a definitive statement to that effect. (The tail stretching toward NGC 1957 lies well to the foreground of that  galaxy, and the geometry devolves from our viewing direction.)
  Considerable interstellar gas appears in this picture and somewhat blurs many stars. Being poorly versed in identifying the local interstellar gases, I presume this is either a Loop I or a Local Bubble (or both) manifestation—Does anyone have more information?

Processing Description:
In addition to the suite of 900s subframes enumerated above, Heaven's Mirror provided a set of 180s RGB subs to ameliorate the saturation of the stars. However, star saturation was not encountered, and those subs were not used.
