Description

Sunspots (20230629) - AR13354 on stage

The active region AR13354, which appears absolutely outstanding here, has developed rapidly out of 'nothing' in the past few days. A feast for the eyes to take in its many details: several light bridges traverse both some umbrae and at least one penumbra. It is a veritable swarm, which illustrates only too well that there is a lot going on on the Sun right now.

Extensive, wildly meandering flare areas in the regions of apparent edge darkening, as well as the granulation of the photosphere complete the overall picture. I was particularly pleased that I was able to observe all the phenomena visually. And the big AR13354 could even be seen with the naked eye through the good old solar eclipse  glasses from 1999!
