Description

This data on the Summer Milky Way has been sitting around for several months now.  In anticipation of completing my observatory, and hoping to image heavily again, I wanted to start with a clean slate and complete this image for 2022.

Shot in May of 2022, this shows the Summer Milky Way over our Bortle 2 class backyard, facing south towards Flagstaff, Arizona.  This wide field image shows the The Teapot asterism in the constellation Sagittarius, marking the direction facing the center of our Milky Way galaxy's core (bright white area).

85x 2 minutes, unguided, using iOptron SkyGuider Pro
Canon Ra, Sigma Art 50mm f/5.6, ISO 12800, no filter
Calibrated in Astro Pixel Processor, Processed in Pixinsight and Lightroom
