Description

M3 is located in the constellation Canes Venatici, close to the constellation border with Bootes. It is one of the brightest globular cluster visible in the northern hemisphere,  containing some 500,000 stars. It is computed to be approximately 8 billion years old, and as such contains mostly old red stars, although there are some of what astronomer's call bluestraggler stars resident in the cluster. These young stars are thought to have formed by interactions between neighboring stars whereby the cooler outer gaseous layers are stripped away.

Data was recorded over a single, clear and moonless night.
