Combined two fits created on two different nights each with 1221 and 2329 5 sec subs respectively, for a total integration of 4 hours and 55 minutes.
Not very familiar with DeepSkyStacker so took a little tweaking to get to a noticeable improvement with signal to noise ratio when combining the two images. Still, was hoping the additional 3 hours and 14 minutes would provide much more detail. But it seemed to only add marginally more and primary less noise. I suppose I would need 10 – 20 hours to get the kind of results I was hoping for.
Consider that this was taken from prime focus on a CPC1100 with 2800mm focal length and that it is cropped as well. So, viewing with little zooming probably provides the most pleasing view.
For this image I again removed the stars and worked separately with the nebula. Then went back to the original combined fit and stretched it enough to display the stars without the nebula. This provided smaller and fewer stars. Added some star spikes for ascetic purposes and placed this on top of the edited nebula in PhotoShop. Still falls short of what I would like it to be, but it is a continual learning process. 😊

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
